Devon rockers Muse are to be awarded the coveted O2 Silver Clef Award, it was announced today.
Frontman Matthew Bellamy, bassist Christopher Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard turned down the award in 2009, but have decided to accept this year at the 35th annual awards luncheon, held to raise money for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.
Outspoken music mogul Sharon Osbourne, wife and former manager of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, will host this year's ceremony at London's Hilton hotel on Park Lane on Friday July 2.
Muse said: "We are delighted to be presented this year's Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef and join the ranks of such artistes as Robert Plant, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Elton John and The Who.
"Nordoff Robbins is an exceptional charity that has a positive impact on so many people's lives, and we are very proud to be recognised by them in this way."
The band are currently busy touring the US, and are set to headline at both the American Coachella festival in April, and then Glastonbury in June, before attending the star-studded ceremony to pick up the prestigious award.
Osbourne, who has judged The X Factor and America's Got Talent, said: "Nordoff Robbins is one of my favourite charities, I look forward to what's looking like a fabulous day."
The O2 Silver Clef Awards Lunch, whose past winners have included Take That, Oasis, Paul Weller and Coldplay, has so far raised over £7.5 million for Nordoff Robbins and also features an auction of one-off music memorabilia items.
Nordoff Robbins is the UK's leading independent provider of music therapy services and provides more than 30,000 music therapy sessions for children and adults in need each year.
